This oil painting captures a narrow passageway framed by an arch, with steps, doorways, potted plants and a single wall lamp leading the eye further into the scene. Painted largely in shades of blue, the composition uses light and shadow to create depth while keeping the atmosphere quiet and intimate.

The restricted palette allows the architecture to do most of the work... curved walls, recessed doorways and changing planes of blue gradually pulling the viewer inward. Small touches of green, ochre and warm brown break through the cool tones without disturbing the stillness of the scene. 

This piece is for someone drawn to quiet corners, old streets and places that seem to invite you to wander a little further. A painting about the beauty of not quite knowing what waits beyond the next turn.
