Some things shine without ever needing to be loud. The Quiet Glow is inspired by that strange, almost otherworldly presence of a jellyfish moving through deep water. There is something about the way it glows that feels both fragile and powerful.. soft, translucent, almost weightless, yet impossible to ignore.
I wanted the painting to feel like a small source of light finding its way through darkness.
The surrounding blues are deep and immersive, while the warm pinks, oranges and violets at the centre create a sense of quiet illumination. The textured lines around the jellyfish suggest movement, current and the invisible forces that we have no control over.
Perhaps we do not always need to blaze brightly.
Sometimes it is enough to keep glowing from that place of inner strength.
